Mission Seminary
Since October 1, 2023 we have been living in the community of the Major Seminary in Olsztyn (Hosianum). Currently, our SVD seminary community consists of 6 people.
We use one floor in the seminary, which we rent. In addition to several rooms for seminarians, we have a café and a small kitchen with a refrigerator. From Tuesday to Thursday we participate in the daily schedule together with diocesan seminarians, and on weekends we go to our Mission Seminary in Pieniężno.
Seminarians have lectures at the Faculty of Theology of the Warmia and Mazury University every day. In addition, they have regular conferences led by prefects, and once a month by the spiritual director – father Jan Bocian SVD. Also we are involved at the parish of Saint Arnold Janssen. Moreover, our seminarians are active as volunteers at the Social Welfare Home in Olsztyn. During the weekend, seminarians and prefects serve in the community of St. Adalbert's House in Pieniężno. They have assigned duties there. This applies especially to holidays such as Christmas and Easter, as well as SVD celebrations. As part of deepening relations with the Society of the Divine Word, we visited our SVD houses in Górna Grupa and Krynica Morska. We are planning further trips together during the inter-semester breaks.
We are currently at the stage of introduction to the new situation in the seminary of the archdiocese in Olsztyn. We see many positives, such as establishing cooperation with diocesan priests and seminarians, common prayers, and church activities.
